Yvonne Wignolle Printemps (Yvonne Printemps)
Singer, Actress. Born Ermont Yvonne Willigniolle Dupre, she earned the nickname “printemps” (“spring”) for her cheerful personality. She rose to fame while dancing in cabaret and performing on Broadway. Some of her motion pictures include “Le Voyage en Amérique” (1951; “Voyage to America”), “La Valse de Paris” (1949; “The Paris Waltz”); “Les Condamnés” (1948; “The Condemned”); “Je suis avec toi” (1943; “I am with you”), “Le Duel” (1939; “The Duel”); “Adrienne Lecouvreur” (1938),Les Trois valses (1938; “The Three Waltzes”), “La Dame aux camélias” (1934; “The Woman of Camelias”), and “Un roman d’amour et d’aventures” (1918; “A Love and Adventure Novel”).
