A popular leading man in Austrian cinema, he made his motion picture
debut in the silent “Das grobe Hemd.” Some of his well know works were
roles in the films “The Black Hussar,” “Tales from Vienna Woods” and
“Hotel Sacher.” He was the son of actress Rosa Albach Retty, and the father of actress Romy Schneider.
