Sumi Sevilla Haru

American film, television and theatre actress. Haru was born Mildred Sevilla in 1939 in Orange, New Jersey. Her acting credits included “Krakatoa,” “East of Java,” “MASH,” “The Beverly Hillbillies” and “Hill Street Blues.” Haru was the author of the 2012 memoir Iron Lotus: Memoirs of Sumi Sevilla Haru. Haru served on the Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) national board and was a former interim Screen Actors Guild president, the first and only woman of color to hold the position as president.
