Stephen Hancock (Stephen Hancock)
British Actor. Hancock, born Philip Stephen Hancock, was a well-known actor whose famous role was of Ernest Bishop in the series “Coronation Street”. He studied music at Durham University before pursuing a career in acting. Hancock’s acting career started in 1954 when he received the role of Ian Prendergast in the series “Dear Dotty”. He would go on to appear in such television series and films as “Emergency-Ward 10”, “Sounding Brass”, “Screen One”, and “Chicago Joe and the Showgirl”. Hancock’s most famous role was of Ernest Bishop in the long-running series “Coronation Street” which he starred in from 1969 to 1978. He also made appearances in various stage productions as well. Hancock’s brother Christopher was a star on the series “EastEnders”. He appeared on a tribute program for “Coronation Street” in 2011. (bio by: Mr. Badger Hawkeye)
