Shelley Morrison

Shelley Morrison is an experienced educator, coach, trainer and facilitator. Her firm, Shelley Morrison Associates (SMA), provides consulting and training in marketing, negotiations, communications and intercultural relations for corporate, non-profit and higher education clients. Shelley specializes in working with global virtual teams and teachers other trainers how to effectively deliver their programs virtually.
Shelley is based in Seattle, Washington, but travels extensively to provide programs internationally. She has facilitating programs globally for Intel, SAP, Hewlett Packard, Concur, MetLife, LafargeHolcim, Société Générale, plus WPP, Inc. and their operating companies in North/South America, Europe and Asia Pacific. SMA provides services directly to clients and is also affiliated with the following companies: IMPARTA, Ltd. (UK), IMPARTA Inc. (USA), Day One Group, Berlitz US, Berlitz Deutschland GmbH, Cultural Awareness International (CAI), Dwellworks and Morneau Shepell. Shelley is currently on the board of the Cross Cultural Journeys Foundation and this year is teaching a course on Intercultural Communication at the University of Washington.

Shelley Morrison started her career as a broadcast journalist, working for NBC and ABC Radio, Voice of America in North America, Europe and Africa. Her business experience over the last 25 years includes the following executive roles in communication, sales and marketing:
Director of Marketing, Seattle SuperSonics, NBA – National Basketball Association
Vice President of Advertising Sales, Disney/Starwave
Vice President of Media and Distribution Sales, RealNetworks

Shelley has a BA in Communications from the University of Washington and a Masters in Teaching from Seattle University earning a secondary school teaching certificate in 2004. She also has a Masters in Intercultural Relations (2015) from the University of the Pacific and the Intercultural Communications Institute, and has published her thesis on “US Corporate Internships for Students from Africa”.

Shelley is a certified administrator of the MBTI (Myers Briggs), DISC, TKI, the IDI (Intercultural Development Inventory) and the Intercultural Conflict Style Inventory. She is certified in with Aperian Global and their tools: GlobeSmart Assessment Profile, (GAP) Global Teams Assessment (GTA) and Global Leadership Assessment (GLA). Shelley is a member of ASTD, SIETAR USA and the co-founder of SIETAR NW. Shelley is founding Member of the Cross Cultural Marketing and Communication Association (CCMCA).

Shelley is a polished speaker and facilitator. Because of her broadcasting background, she is skilled at creating and delivering online and virtual training, and she offers presentation skills coaching for managers and executives. In the past few years she has been a featured speaker at the following professional conferences : Moving Beyond Mobility Conference 2009 (Berlin), SIETAR USA 2008 – 2017, Summer Institute for Intercultural Communication 2012 & 2015 (Portland), SIETAR Europa 2012 (Krakow) & 2015 (Valencia), SIETAR INDIA 2013 (Mumbai), Intercultural Management Institute Conference 2013 & 2014 (DC). This year she is teaching an Intercultural Communication course for the University of Washington and she regularly provides cultural orientation for the university’s international students.
