Robert Allison

Major League Baseball Player. Born in Raytown, Missouri, he was an outfielder and first baseman, making his debut for the Washington Senators on September 16, 1958 and received the Rookie of the Year Award in 1959. For thirteen  seasons, he played with the Washington Senators (1958-1960), Minnesota Twins (1962-70) and was a three time All-star (1959, 1962-63). He finished his career with a record of 1281 Hits, 811 runs scored, 256 home runs, 796 runs batted in, a .255 batting average and a .975 fielding percentage. He died from ataxia at 60 in Rio Verde, Arizona and the Minnesota Twins Bob Allison Award, is named in his honor. (bio by: John “J-Cat” Griffith)
