Richard Davalos
Actor. Born Richard Norman Davalos, he was a versatile actor whose most famous roles were of James Dean’s brother Aron in the 1955 film “East of Eden” and of the convict Blind Dick in the 1967 film “Cool Hand Luke”. Richard Davalos started his acting career, which would span six decades, in 1953 with a role in the television program “Goodyear Playhouse”. His television credits would go on to include “The Americans”, “Bonanza,” “Hawaiian Eye,” “77 Sunset Strip,” “Perry Mason,” “Rawhide,” “Mannix,” “SWAT,” “The Rockford Files,” “Hawaii Five-O,” “The Jeffersons,” “Hart to Hart” and “Murder, She Wrote.” Richard Davalos also appeared in many films during his career with such credits as “I Died a Thousand Times” (1955), “All the Young Men” (1960), “The Cabinet of Caligari” (1962), “Pit Stop” (1969), “Kelly’s Heroes” (1970), “Brother, Cry for Me” (also 1970), “Hot Stuff” (1979), “Death Hunt” (1981), “Something Wicked This Way Comes” (1983) and his final screen credit, 2008’s “Ninja Cheerleaders.” During the 1990s, he gained a measure of pop music fame by appearing on the covers of multiple albums for the Smiths. He appears in the album art for “Strangeways,” “Here We Come,” “Best…I” and “…Best II.” He was awarded the 1956 Theatre World Award for his performances in the Arthur Miller plays “A View From the Bridge” and “A Memory of Two Mondays” .
