Character Actor. Son of William Parker Bieri and Gladys Arens Shea. Ramon was an actor and familiar face of stage, screen, and television. His first stage appearance was in 1954, launching a theatrical career that included many on and off Broadway featured roles. He was known to audiences of New York’s Shakespeare in the Park, Ohio’s Shakespeare Festival, San Diego’s Old Globe Theater, and was a founding member of the American Conservatory Theater. He was also an active member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.  In 1979, he starred in his own TV sitcom, “Joe’s World”, and co-starred with James Garner in the 1981 TV series, “Bret Maverick”.   His numerous TV credits spanning nearly four decades include: “L.A. Law”, “In the Heat of the Night”,  “Gunsmoke”, “Murder She Wrote”, “St. Elsewhere”, “Magnum P.I.”, “Highway to Heaven”, “The Streets of San Francisco”, “Room 222”, “Bonanza”, “Mission Impossible”, “Hogan’s Heroes”, “Daniel Boone”, and “Route 66”.  In off-screen hours, Bieri was an avid fisherman, sailor, woodworker and poker player.  He was also a decorated veteran of the Korean War.   He died of cancer at the Motion Picture & Television Fund Hospital in Los Angeles, California.  He was 71.
