Poul Arne Bundgaard

Actor. He was a versatile actor and tenor singer who appeared in operettas and musicals from his debut in 1947. From 1958 to 1973 he was engaged as an opera-singer by The Royal Theatre in Copenhagen and also as an actor 1969 to 1973 at the same theatre. Besides appearing on different private theatres he was a frequent guest on radio and television, and he performed outside Denmark in England, Sweden, Austria, Germany, Canada, and United States. He played in more than 100 Danish films, both in serious dramas and in comedies. His most popular role was that of a third of Olsen-Banden (the Olsen Gang), a trio of petty criminals who through 13 films from 1968 to 1981 each time thought they had the perfect plan to pull off a big coup, alwas ending up being outsmarted. During the filming of a final 14th film in 1998 he suddenly died after having suffered from diabetes for a number of years. (bio by: Erik Skytte)
