Nancy Malone (Nancy Malone)
Actress, Television Director, Producer. She will perhaps be best remembered for playing ‘Libby Kingston’ in the TV series “Naked City” (1960 to 1963). Her career began at the age of seven, when she experienced modeling in ads for several companies, among them Kellogg’s Cereal, Ford Motor Company and Macy’s Department Store. She received the distinction of adorning the cover of “Life Magazine” for the publications tenth anniversary. The issue was to describe the ‘Typical American Girl’. Nancy was mentored by Stella Adler co-founder of the Actor’s Studio and in 1952, she marked her Broadway debut playing the title role in the comedy “Time Out For Ginger” (1952 to 1953). Her TV career began two-years earlier and during the decade she had credits in numerous popular programs. After the “Naked City’s” run ended in, she had memorable roles in the classic series “Outer Limits” and “The Twilight Zone”, both in 1964. She landed her second feature role playing ‘Clara Varner’ in the series “The Long, Hot Summer” (1965 to 1966). During the 1980s, she began a second career as a director and guided such TV programs as “Dynasty”, “Melrose Place” and “Diagnosis Murder”. She shared an Emmy Award for the special “Bob Hope: The First 90 Years” (1993). She died of complications from leukemia. (bio by: C.S.)
