Madeleine Lebeau (Madeleine Lebeau)
Actress. Best remembered for playing ‘Yvonne’, ‘Rick’s’ (Humphrey Bogart) jilted lover in the classic picture “Casablanca” (1942). Born Marie Madeleine Berthe Lebeau, she began her film career in her native France during her teenage years and relocated to Hollywood, where she debut in the picture “Hold Back the Dawn” (1941). During the following two decades, she appeared in American, French, Italian and British cinema, in such pictures as “Gentleman Jim” (1942), “Paris After Dark” (1943), “The Royalists” (1947) and “8 1/2” (1963). She was married to French character actor Marcel Dalio and later to Italian screenwriter Tullio Pinelli. (bio by: C.S.)
