Lilian Decima Moore Guggisberg (Lilian Guggisberg)
British stage actress of the late Victorian and the Edwardian Era. Also known as Decima Moore, Lady Guggisberg, Lady Decima Moore-Guggisberg. She was born the 10th child child to Edward Henry Moore, a chemist (pharmacist) in Brighton, East Sussex. Her theatrical debut was in 1889 at the Savoy Theatre in London as “Casilda” in the Gilbert & Sullivan opera, “The Gondoliers”. A long career ensued, her preferred roles being in musical comedy and light drama. Three of her older sisters were also theatrical performers. For her patriotic work during World War I, she was awarded the Commander of the British Empire (CBE) in 1918.
