Actress. Born in Berlin,  she was one of the most prolific actresses in German cinema, with a career that spanned over 70 years and 250 films. She began performing on stage in 1914 and made her screen debut two years later.  Her films include “Der Skandal” (1916), “Sein bester Freund” (1917), “Wilhelm Tell” (1923), “Hedda Gabler” (1924), “Berlin – Alexanderplatz” (1931), “Emil und die Detektive” (1931), “Der Hauptmann von Köpenick” (1931), “Pygmalion” (1935), “Der Herrscher” (1938), “Bismarck” (1940), “Münchhausen” (1943), “Nachtwache” (1949), “Alles für Papa” (1953), “…wie einst Lili Marleen” (1956), “Zwei ahnungslose Engel” (1969) and “Grete Minde” (1977).
