Julius Francis “Jules” Barlow

Orchestra and Big Band Leader, Musician, The Jules Barlow Orchestra played with many bands of the big band era, including the Blue Baron. The orchestra appeared in many ballrooms throughout the south, including the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennesee, the Broadmoor and Buena Vista Hotels in Biloxi, Mississippi, and many more. The Jules Barlow Orchestra played together from the late 1930’s until early 2000. He also played piano with many bandleaders, including Gene Pringle, Herbert Holmes and Phil Harris. He played for cruises and enjoyed telling tales of his trip to pre Castro Havana, Cuba. He shared the stage with many entertainers, including Bob Hope. For many years he worked at Wright Music on Capitol Street in Jackson, Mississippi, selling his pianos and encouraging young musicians. He was honored in 2002 for his many years of providing great music and support to the Alhambraa Annual Dance, a local fund-raiser.
