José Gutiérrez Solana (José Gutiérrez Solana)
Painter, Writer. He was born in Madrid, Spain. His paintings were included in Expresionism movement. He is best remembered for his work “La Tertulia del Café Pombo.” Other of his paintings “Las Vitrinas,” “El Bibliófilo,” “Mujeres de la Vida,” “El Carro de Carne,” “El Cristo de la Sangre, “Garrote Vil,” “Las Coristas,” “Mis Amigos,” “Las Señoritas Toreras” and “Procesión en Toledo.” In the 20s, he made several exhibitions in New York, Saint Louis, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. The Carnegie Institute adquired his painting “Procesión.” He died in his hometown. (bio by: José L Bernabé Tronchoni)
