José Cardoso Pires

Portuguese Writer and Essayist. He was born in Sao Joao do Peso and died in Lisbon. He fought against the dictatorship in his country, and during the 1960s, he was forced into exile. As a writer, he is best remembered for his books “Balada da Praia dos Caes” (Ballad of Dog’s Beach), “Imperatores, Almirantes e Vampiros,” “A Cavalo no Diabo,” “Os Caminheiros e Outros Contos,” “O Anjo Ancorado,” “O Render dos Heróis,” “Dinossauro Excelentíssimo” and “Alexandra Alpha.” As essayist, “Técnicas do Golpe de Censura” and “Sete Parágrafos sobre a Liberdade.” (bio by: José L Bernabé Tronchoni)
