John Anderson (John Anderson)
Actor. Born in Clayton, Illinois, he was a brilliant character performer best remembered for his role as a snooping used-car salesman in Alfred Hitchcock’s film, “Psycho”(1960). He began his acting career on the Mississippi River showboat Goldenrod and made his debut in the Broadway show “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” in the 1940s. His other film credits included ” Ride the High Country” (1962), “Five Card Stud” (1968), “Cotton Comes to Harlem” (1970), “Smokey and the Bandit II” (1980), “Zoot Suit” (1981) and “Eight Men Out” (1988). A veteran of 500 TV appearances his credits included “The Twilight Zone”, “Gunsmoke”, Wanted Dead or Alive”, “The Rifleman”, “Murder She Wrote” and “MacGyver”. He died of a heart attack at age 69 in Sherman Oaks, California.
