Joaquín Agrasot Juan (Joaquín Agrasot Juan)
Artist. Born in Orihuela, Alicante, Comunidad Valenciana, Spain, at young age, he moved to Valencia with his parents. Soon after he began his career as painter, and he wqs bestowed his first award in 1860 with his works “La Educación de la Virgen,” “El Sacrifico de Isaac” and “Retrato de Don Juan Alfonso de Albuquerque, Obispo de Córdoba.” He moved to Roma, where he completed his formation. There he became good friends with the painter Mariano Fortuny, and painted “El Taller de Fortuny” and “Vicaría.” When he returned to Valencia, he developed a prolific career until his death. Among others paintings “La Entrada de Carlos V en el Monasterio de Yuste,” “Floristas Valencianas,” “Historias de Taller” and “La Muerte del Marqués del Duero.” He died in Valencia of pneumonia.
