Jeanie MacPherson (Jeanie MacPherson)

Jeanie MacPherson

Actress, Screenwriter. Before entering motion pictures, Jeanie was a dancer and stage performer. She then moved into films, being guided by the great D.W. Griffith. Later in her career, Jeanie was considered the “write hand” on a significant number of Cecil B. DeMille films. With the advent of sound, Jeanie’s involvement with DeMille became less frequent. When Paramount was about to film “The Unconquered” in 1945, DeMille asked Jeanie for her help on the script but she was unable to assist him as she was dying of terminal cancer. MacPherson’s passing made the front page of “The Los Angeles Times,” where it was announced that she had been in a coma for four days prior to her death.  Macpherson appeared in 121 films and wrote for 43 films.
