Actor. Best known for playing ‘Steven Cord’ in the popular TV serial “Peyton Place” (1965 to 1969). Born in Los Angeles (some sources state year of birth as 1933). Raised within the shadows of the entertainment industry, he took advantage of the opportunities for a young actor and marked his motion picture debut with an uncredited role in the film “Fear Strikes Out” (1957). A more significant part was found in the war drama “Time Limit” (1957) and this was followed with roles of substance in the Elvis Presley picture “G.I. Blues” (1960) and the Paul Newman film “Sweet Bird of Youth” (1962). It would be television which garnered Douglas the most success beginning with a part in the series “Father Knows Best”, followed by credits in “Dragnet” and “Death Valley Days”. In addition to “Peyton Place”, Douglas became familiar to television audiences for playing ‘Grant Coleman’ on “As the World Turns” (1978 to 1986) and ‘Doctor Marcus Polk’ on “One Life to Live” (1985 to 1987).
