Actress. A veteran of roughly 30 films, she shall be remembered for her 20 year career on the Hong Kong screen. Raised in her native city, she was working as a model when she was spotted and entered in the Miss Hong Kong Pageant; Jacqueline soon got her start in show business with the 1987 TVB series “The Legend of the Book and the Sword” and made her 1988 silver screen bow in “The Story of Hay Bo”. On the small screen she was to be seen in 1988’s “The Tribulation of Life” as well as the 1991 sequel “The Challenge of Life”, 1989’s “The Final Combat”, and the 1990 “A Taste of Time”. Kept busy on the big screen, Jacqueline’s credits included such fare as “The Dare Devils” (1991), 1992’s “Mad, Mad Ghost”, “The Wrong Bedfellow”, “Ms. Butterfly”, and “Wonder Girlfriend” (all 1993), “Heaven Can’t Wait” and “Enchanted Romance” (both 1995), and 1999’s “Pizza Express”. Her career was temporarily ended by a 1999 scuba diving accident that destroyed most of her hearing, though she eventually learned to read lips and had a few appearances including 2004’s “Magic Kitchen” and the  2006 television movie “La Femme Desperado”. Her hearing partially restored by a cochlear implant, she was seen in the 2009 “Night and Fog” and 2010 “The Fantastic Water Babes”, but later in 2010 was forced to retire by a diagnosis of pancreatic carcinoma. Through most of her illness Jacqueline remained in Hong Kong but after stopping treatment spent her final two months at her husband’s Singapore home. She was billed under a variety of names including Jacqueline Law Wai Guen and Wai Kuen Law. A number of her films are available on DVD. (bio by: Bob Hufford)
