Actor. A native of Salmon, Idaho, Cannon is best remembered for his role as New York City police detective ‘Peter B. Clifford’ on the television series, “McCloud” from 1970 to 1977, which also starred Dennis Weaver. Cannon’s other roles include the films, “Memorandum For A Spy” (1965), “Cool Hand Luke” (1967), “Krakatoa, East Of Java” (1969), “Lawman” (1971), “Scorpio” (1973), “Ike: The War Years” (1978), “Raise The Titanic” (1980), “Death Wish II” (1982), “Beyond Witch Mountain” (1982), “Steel Justice” (1989), and “The Road Raiders” (1989). In 1989 Cannon also reprised his role as ‘Peter B. Clifford’ in the television reunion movie, ‘The Return Of Sam McCloud.” Cannon also made over 85 television appearances including, “Murder, She Wrote”, “Law & Order,” “Matt Houston,” “The Fall Guy,” “Alias Smith And Jones,” “The Virginian,” “Gunsmoke,” “Bonanza,” “The Fugitive,” and “Rawhide.” Cannon was also a veteran of World war II, having served with the United States Army.
