Humbert Allen Astredo

American Actor. Astredo, who appeared in television, film, and stage, will best be remembered for the numerous roles he performed on the TV show ‘Dark Shadows’. After serving in the Korean War, he studied acting at the Pasadena Playhouse in the early 1960s, later appearing at the Hollywood Bowl in ‘Faust’. In the mid-60s, he appeared at the New York Shakespeare Festival, followed with roles for the Repertory Theatre of New Orleans. In 1968, he joined the cast of ‘Dark Shadows’, playing the parts of the warlock Nicholas Blair, Satanist Evan Hanley, and Charles Dawson. Among other TV shows he had roles on were ‘Another World’, ‘Edge of Night’, ‘Guiding Light’, ‘One Life to Live’, ‘Loving’, ‘For Richer, for Poorer’ and ‘Texas’. His later work was primarily in theater, including roles on Broadway productions of ‘The Entertainer’, ‘Murderous Angels’, ‘An Evening with Richard Nixon and…’, ‘Equus’, ‘Les Blancs’ and ‘The Little Foxes’. Astredo, who retired from acting in the mid-1980s, died of natural causes. (bio by: Louis M.)
