Henry Griesedieck (Henry Griesedieck)
Henry was the general superintendent of the Independent Breweries Company & former president of the company, which was a consolidation of nine St. Louis breweries. Born in Germany, Henry came to the U.S. in 1870 & entered the employ of the Lafayette Brewery in St. Louis as an office boy. In 1878 he associated with two brothers to purchase the Stumpf Brewery, & later the Christian Staehling Brewery. It was sold to the St. Louis Brewing Association in 1880. Two years later Griesedieck & his brothers Bernard & Joseph erected the National Brewery of which Henry was president until the business was acquired by the Independent Breweries Company.
