Gustav Gründgens (Gustav Gründgens)
Actor. Born in Dusseldorf, Germany, he was one of his country’s most influential actors of the 20th century, performing Berlin’s leading theatres. He was one of the very few entertainers whose career continued undisturbed through the years of the Nazi regime. His single most notable role was that of Mephistopheles in the play and film “Faust”, which is still considered by many to be the best interpretation of the role ever given. He died of an internal hemorrhage in Manila, Philippines, at the age of 63. (bio by: John “J-Cat” Griffith) Family links: Spouse: Erika Mann (1905 – 1969)* *Calculated relationship
