George Henry Rawlings (George Henry Rawlings)
Business Magnate. Born in St. Louis, Rawlings began his business career as a young boy with the M.J. Steinburg Hat and Fur Company for three and a half years. In 1871 he became associated with Albright Brothers Sporting Goods and remained with them until 1879. He was the manager of the gun department for C & W. McClean Sporting Goods from 1879-1887 when he left and organized Rawlings Brothers Sporting Goods. After being in Chicago briefly with Thorsen & Cassidy in the same line of business, he returned to St. Louis and became the manager for the E. C. Meacham Arms Company until they sold out. In 1899 he organized the Rawlings Sporting Goods Company and became the secretary and manager.
