Frank W. Feuerbacher

Native St. Louisan Feuerbacher decided to enter the brewing & malting industry after high school graduation. He served his apprenticeship in Cincinnati & Milwaukee. He returned to St. Louis in 1880 & founded a malt house under the firm name of Frank W. Feuerbacher & Co., which did an extensive business throughout the country. He joined the Merchants’ Exchange & fostered movements for the rehabilitation of the river traffic & at one time attempted to make the Carondelet area of St. Louis the steel center of the middle west by assisting several steel enterprises there. He was president of the Western Foundry & Sash Weight Company, & in 1903 founded the Carondelet Ice Manufacturing & Fuel Company. He later became associated with the Donk Bros. Coal Company. As President of the Southern Commercial & Savings Bank & the Krauss Improvement & Investment Company, he especially directed his efforts to the develoment of the southwestern area of St. Louis. He was one of the founders & the Vice President of the St. Louis Catering Company & was instrumental in erecting the Oriental Hotel in Dallas, Texas.
