Frances Faye

Singer, Songwriter, Actress. Born Francis Cohen in Brooklyn, New York, she was a second cousin of actor Danny Kaye whom began her career as a cabaret show tune singer and pianist. In the 1930s to 1960s, she recorded dozens of albums to include “Frances Faye”, “Frances Faye Sings Folk Songs”, “Frances Faye Sings the Blues” and “Swinging All the Way With Frances Faye”. As a song writer she wrote “The Man I Love”, “Shimmy Like My Sister Kate” and “Well All Right” recorded by the Andrew Sisters. She made her film debut in “Double Or Nothing” (1937), followed by “Pretty Baby” (1978). She was also an early pioneer and advocate for gay rights. (bio by: John “J-Cat” Griffith)
