Evelyn Ward (Evelyn Ward)
American Actress. Ward began her career as a Roxyette at New York’s famed Roxy Theatre in the early 1940s, then headed for Broadway where she understudied for Mary Martin in ‘Dancing in the Streets’ and made her Broadway debut in 1943 in the musical comedy ‘Early to Bed’. Her other Broadway credits in the 1940s include ‘The Firebrand of Florence’ with future husband Jack Cassidy, ‘Spring in Brazil’ with Milton Berle, ‘Along Fifth Avenue’ with Jackie Gleason, ‘Billion Dollar Baby’ and ‘Heaven on Earth’. On June 28, 1948 she married Cassidy and they had one child together in 1950, a son they named David Bruce Cassidy, however the marriage ended in divorce in 1956. Among television shows she went on to appear in were ‘Manhattan Showcase’, ‘The Mercer Girls’, ‘Man from U.N.C.L.E.’, ‘Ben Casey’, ‘Breaking Point’, ‘The Big Brain’, ‘Dr. Kildare’, ‘Perry Mason’, ‘Mike Hammer’, ‘The Further Adventures of Ellery Queen’ and ‘Hallmark Hall of Fame’.
