Evelyn Jarvis Preer (Evelyn Preer)
Stage/Screen Actress and Singer of the 1910s to the early 1930s. Although she exhibited great talent and promise as an actress, she found her roles limited due to her light skin tone which did not fit the industry’s standards for African-Americans of the era. She appeared in “The Gunsaulus Mystery” (1921), “The Devil’s Disciple” (1926), “The Spider’s Web” (1927), and “Georgia Rose” (1930). Her final screen appearance was in the 1932 drama “Blonde Venus,” in a small, uncredited role. Married to actor Edward Thompson. (bio by: A.J. Marik) Cause of death: Pneumonia
