Estelle Hemsley (Estelle Hemsley)
Actress. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, she began her career in the theatre and many performances on Broadway before making her film debut “The Return of Mandy’s Husband” (1948). A popular character actor, she won The Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress for “Take a Giant Step” (1959). Her other credits included “Edge of the City” (1957), “Green Mansions” (1959), “The Leech Woman” (1960) and “America, America” (1963). For television she was a regular on “The Philco Television Playhouse”. She died in Hollywood, California. (bio by: John “J-Cat” Griffith)
