Actress. Born in Torquay, Devon, England. One of her best remembered roles is that of Madge Allsop, the silent bridesmaid sidekick of Dame Edna Everage, a character created by Australian comedian Barry Humphries. As Allsop, she starred with Humphries on stage and in television, in “The Dame Edna Experience”, “Dame Edna’s Neighborhood Watch”, and “Dame Edna’s Hollywood.” Other appearances include: Mrs. Eliza Broadbent in the film, “Last of the Summer Wine” (1995), and as herself in the television special, “Night of A Thousand Faces” (2001). Before becoming an actress, she taught dance at the Patricia Perry Academy of Dancing School for over 25 years. The years following her retirement in 2004, were spent at Brinsworth House in Twickenham, England. She passed away from natural causes at the age of 100. (bio by: K)
