Elsie Janis (Elsie Janis)
American writer, actress, and composer. Daughter of Lou Bierbauer. She was an excellent screenwriter and Broadway muscial comedy star and earned international acclaim for her talents in France and England, but she also lead hundred of United States Government War Bond rallies during World War I as well as being the forerunner of modern troop entertainment by taking her shows to the frontlines during the war itself. During the first thirty years of the 20th century, Janis was a household name on peer with Al Jolson, Flo Zigfield, et al. Elsie was born in Marion County Ohio, raised in Columbus and lived during the off season in Columbus at her estate El-Jan across from Ohio State University.
