Actress, Director. She was born in Valencia, Spain. Her parents were actors in the prestigious Margarita Xirgu stage company and soon they was forced into exile at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War. On stage she debuted at the age of nine and toured South America, particularly in the plays of dramatist Federico García Lorca.  She was also a pioneer woman director on stage, radio and television, and became one of the most acclaimed and beloved actresses of her time. When she died the Argentinian Congress rendered her a tribute. Her credits include “Bodas de Sangre” (1938), “La Novia de los Forasteros” (1942), “Un Atardecer de Amor” (1943), “Santos Vega Vuelve” (1947), “La Maestra Enamorada” (1961), “El Bruto” (1962), “El Bruto” (1963), “Carmiña” (1975), “Las Chancletas de Papá” (1984), “Duro como la Roca… Frágil como el Cristal” (1985), “Cuidado, Hombres Trabajando” (1986) and “El Duende Azul” (1989).
