Edwin August

Actor, director and screenwriter of the silent era. Born in Saint Louis, Missouri, as Edwin August Philip Von der Butz. He was better known as Edwin August. His parents were Sarah Mykins and August Butz. He began his career at the young age of 7, his stage debut was in “Little Lord Fauntleroy.” Edwin was also known for The Folly of it all in 1913, The Taint of an Alien, and The Two Gun Man, both in 1914.  He appeared in 152 films between 1909 and 1947. Edwin would also direct 52 films between 1912 and 1919. He co-founded Eaco Films in 1914. The only talking picture Edwin would act in was “Above the border” in 1927. He died in Hollywood, California at the age of 80. (bio by: Shock)
