Dora Van Der Groen

Belgian Actress. Van der Groen was considered one of the greatest actresses in Belgium for her work in television and film. She came from a musical family, but chose to go to the Studio of the National Theatre to learn acting. Van der Groen started her acting career at the Royal Dutch Theatre in Antwerp, but after awhile went into acting in films and then television.   She acted in her first film “Meeuwen sterven in de haven” in 1955 and would go on to appear in such films as “Antonia’s Line” (1995), “Pauline and Paulette” (2001) and “Minder dood dan de anderen” (1992).   Van der Groen also appeared in television throughout her career, starring in such series as “Het geheim van Killary Harbour”, “Wij, heren van Zichem”, “Tussen wal en schip”, and “Bex and Blanche”.   Throughout her career, she also continued in the theater, acting and directing in numerous productions.   Van der Groen was awarded with the title “Maestro Honoris Causa” in 2010, the first non-musician being honored.
