David Gest (David Alan Gest)
David Gest
David Gest was spotted looking frail and tired as he sat anxiously on the tube last week – days before he was found dead in a London hotel room.
The 62-year-old, whose body was found at the Four Seasons hotel in Canary Wharf yesterday morning, was photographed after getting on a tube at London’s Victoria tube station with the help of staff.
In what is thought to be the last public shot of the star, Gest can be seen clutching a Boots bag and Oyster card as he sits on the edge of his seat wearing a large black coat with fur trim.
The picture emerged as the star’s friends claimed he had been taking sleeping pills and steroids in the weeks before his death as he desperately tried to get over various medical problems.
The star is believed to have been recently suffering from pneumonia and high blood pressure, with one friend claiming he was disorientated from the drugs.
Their comments came as police confirmed they were treated the incident as ‘not suspicious’, having received a call to the five-star hotel around 10.20am following reports of an ‘unexplained death’.
One source told The Mirror: ‘He seemed strung out and went off the radar at times. He was taking some really strong medication because he was suffering from nasty chest problems that just wouldn’t go away.’
‘He also suffered from high blood pressure, which he had special tablets for, and had been on sleeping pills for years because he suffered from insomnia – he always slept at weird times.’
