Hall of Fame Professional Hockey Player. A native of Sutherland, Saskatchewan, he played as a goalie for the New York Americans from 1940 to 1941, and the New York Rangers from 1945 to 1955.  He was the recipient of the Hart Memorial Trophy in 1950, and was the Second All-Star Team Goalie in 1949, 1950, and in 1951. He also was Head Coach of the Edmonton Flyers from 1962 to 1963 in the WHL. After retiring from hockey he coached several hockey teams in Nelson, British Columbia, Edmonton, Alberta, and Kenora, Ontario. Also in Kenora he opened up his own business with some former teammate. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as a Player in 1973, he died in Langley, British Columbia, in October 2002 at the age of 82. (bio by: K)
