Cecile Lorre Lovsky (Cecile Lorre Lovsky)
Actress and ex-wife of Peter Lorre. Born Caecilie Lvovsky in Vienna, Austria, she attended the Royal Academy of Arts and Music and rose to stardom as a stage performer in Europe. Just prior to World War II, she fled Berlin and Nazi oppression with fellow actor and lover Peter Lorre. The two were married in London in 1934 and moved to Santa Monica, California that same year. After their divorce in 1945, she became a prolific character actor, appearing in numerous TV shows and in some films. Often billed as “Celia Lovsky”, her screen credits included: “Wagon Train”, “Have Gun – Will Travel”, “Alfred Hitchcock Presents”, “77 Sunset Strip”, “Dragnet”, “The Untouchables”, “Star Trek”, “Bonanza”, “Streets of San Francisco”, “Foxfire”, “Airport”, and “Soylent Green”.
