Berta Drews

Actress. Born in Germany,  she began her career on stage in 1924. After marrying actor Heinrich George she made her film debut in “Schleppzug M 17” (1933).  Drews is best remembered as Gert Fröbe’s wife in Ladislao Vajda’s film “El Cebo” (“Es Geschah am Hellichten Tag”, 1958). Her credits also include “Der Kaiser von Kalifornien” (1936), “Mädchen hinter Gittern” (1949), “Ave Maria” (1953), “Anastasia, die letzte Zarentochter” (1956), “Der Geizige” (1969) and the Oscar-winning “Die Blechtrommel” (“The Tin Drum”, 1979), her last film.
