Bernadette Lafont (Bernadette Lafont)
Actress. She will be best remembered as muse of the acclaimed French film director François Truffaut with whom made her debut as an actress in the short film “Les Mistons” (1957). Bernadette soon became a symbol actress of the Nouvelle Vague, playing roles in some of the masterpieces of French cinema including notably “Le beau Serge” (1957) directed by Claude Chabrol , “Une belle fille comme moi” (1972) by François Truffaut and “La maman et la putain” (1973) by Jean Eustache, considered by many as the last important work of the Nouvelle Vague. In a career lasting over fifty years, she appeared in over one hundred films. In the 1980s, she also worked for directors such as Jean-Pierre Mocky, Just Jaeckin and in Claude Miller’s “L’Effrontée” (1985) for which she received the César Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. On 14 July 2009, Lafont was awarded the title of Knight of the Legion of Honor for artistic merit. She died at the age of seventy-four.
