Barbara Allyne Bennet

American Actress. During a career that spanned more than five decades, Bennet worked in front of and behind the camera. She graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a B.A. in theater, then moved to New York City, where she appeared in several Broadway plays before moving to Hollywood in the 1970s to pursue a career film and television. She worked as a production assistant on ‘The Rose’ (1979) and as a production coordinator on the TV series ‘Flying High’ before appearing on such TV series and made-for-TV movies as ‘Emergency’, ‘Evita Peron’, ‘Raid on Entebbe’, ‘Billy: Portrait os a Street Kid’, ‘Murder, She Wrote’, ‘Snoops’, ‘Beverly Hills 90210’, ‘The West Wing’, ‘The Office’, ‘Brothers & Sisters’, ‘Shameless’, ‘Chicago Hope’ and ‘NYPD Blue’. On film, she had roles in ‘Mac and Me’ (1988), ‘Angel Town’ (1990), ‘Love and Support’ (2001), ‘Heart of the Beholder’ (2005) and ‘Counting for Thunder’ (2015). As a member of Actors Alley Workshops in Los Angeles, she performed in many productions, including starring roles in ‘The Trolls’ and ‘The Long Goodbye’. Bennet served on the board of the Screen Actors Guild from 2005-07, chaired the SAG Casting Committee and served on the SAG Commercial Performers Committee from 2005-06. She also served on the SAG-AFTRA Film Society Executive Committee for several years. She died at City of Hope Hospital of cancer-related causes. (bio by: Louis M.)
