Alice Playten

Actress. Born Alice Plotkin, her career spanned nearly five decades performing on stage, television and movies. She made her Broadway debut in the role as Baby Louise for the original musical production “Gypsy” in 1959. She went on to star in productions of “Hello, Dolly!”, “Seussical”, “Oliver!”, “Rumors” and “Caroline or Change”. For feature films, her credits included “Ladybug, Ladybug” (1963), “Legend” (1985), “I.Q.” (1994), “Pioneer 12” (1999) and “Rebound” (2009). She also did voice over work in several animated features such as “Heavy Metal” (1981), “My Little Pony: The Movie” (1986) and “Felix the Cat: The Movie” (1988). Among her many television appearances, she was a regular on the children series “The Lost Saucer”, “That’s Cat”, and had guest shots on “Frasier”, “Law & Order”, “Third Watch”, “As The World Turns” and many more. In the 1970s, she was well known for her role on a classic Alka-Selzer TV commercial with actor Terry Kiser. Cause of death: heart failure at age 63.
