United States Army Officer, Author. Born in Atlantic City, New Jersey, he was a career US Army officer and historian. After he graduated with master’s degree in history from Rutgers University, he was commissioned a intelligence office in the US Army. In the early 1960s, he trained Cuban nationals for the abortive Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba. During the Vietnam War, he served as a combat company commander and later as an intelligence officer at the Defense Intelligence Agency. He also taught history at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and at Morgan State University. He retired as a Colonel from the U.S. Center for Military History in 1992. As an author, he wrote the books “Seven Firefights in Vietnam” (1985), “The Exclusion of Black Soldiers from the Medal of Honor in World War II” (1997) and contributed to the book “Black Soldier, White Army: The 24th Infantry Regiment in Korea” (1996). He died at age 62 in Fort Washington, Maryland and actress Rosalind Cash was his sister. (bio by: John “J-Cat” Griffith)
