Author.  Born in Madrid, Spain. He was a controversial member of the “Generation of 1927” creative movement. In his works he showed an eclectic mixture of the communism and the Catholicism. He summed up this attitude with the quote: “With the Communists until the death, but not a step further”.  During the Spanish Civil War, Bergamin was President of the Antifascist Intellectuals Alliance. He worked for several newspapers and founded the magazine “Cruz y Raya”. His works include “El Cohete y la Estrella”,  “El Alma en un Hilo”,  “La Voz Apagada”,  “Al Volver”,  “El Clavo Ardiendo”,  “El Pensamiento Perido: Páginas de Guerra y del Destierro”,  “La Claridad Desierta”,  “Esperando la Mano de Nieve”,  and “Canto Rodado”.  He died in Fuenterrabia (Ondarribia, Pais Vasco, Spain).
