Francisco Boix (Francisco Boix)

Francisco Boix

Photographer. He was born in Barcelona (Catalunya). During and after Spanish Civil War, he fought against Franco’s dictatorship, and was forced to exile. In Second World War, he was interned in Mauthausen’s Death Camp. After the liberation, his photos of the nazi’s atrocities in the camp hardly reflected the horror of Holocaust. He moved to Paris and work as Journalist, but his period in the camp (from 1941 to 1945), debilitated his health, and soon he died in Paris. Recently was published a book about his story, “Francisco Boix, Un Fotógrafo en el Infierno” (A Photographer in Hell). (bio by: José L Bernabé Tronchoni)
