Actress and Dancer. She gained infamy for her fan dances often called the “Chinese Sally Rand” that was featured in “Forbidden City” a popular asian nightclub in San Francisco. Like the Cotton Club of Harlem which featured America’s finest African American entertainers, Forbidden City gained an international reputation with its unique showcase of Chinese American performers in eye-popping all-American extravaganzas. Noel scandalized the Asian-American community by showing her breasts in her famous “Bubble Dance.” The exposure gained her several roles in Hollwood. She appeared in films such as “Anne of the Indes” (1951) with Jean Peters, “Soldier of Fortune” (1955) with Clark Gable and Susan Hayward, “How To Be Very, Very Popular” (1955) with Betty Grable and Sheree North, “The Left Hand of God” (1955) with Humphrey Bogart, Gene Tierny and Agnes Moorehead, the Blake Edwards comedy “S.O.B.” (1981), and the action-packed “Big Trouble in Little China” (1986). Her last screen appearance was playing ‘Bea’ in the idependent-film “Midnight Temptations 2” (1997). She also appeared in several episodes of “M.A.S.H.”  Noel was reunited with her fellow nightclub performers in 1989 for a PBS documentary tiltled Forbidden City, U.S.A.” She was married to prolific actor Carleton Young for 50 years.
