Bert Gudgeon (Bert Gudgeon)
Entertainer, Actor. He first appeared in motion pictures in 1908. He became a leading man in the Pearl White serials between 1910 and 1924. Those serials included the much acclaimed “Perils of Pauline” series which included twenty two-reel episodes that were released each week. He eventually went on to act in athletic roles including daredevil type roles including jumping over cliffs on horseback, swimming across rivers and jumping from moving trains. He had large roles in “The Exploits of Elaine,” “The Clutching Hand,” and “The Iron Claw,” and numerous other films. He retired from motion pictures in the late 1920s, moving to rodeo shows as well as appearing on the stage in vaudeville. (bio by: Saratoga)
