Jose Angel “Ferrusquilla” Espinosa

Mexican Actor, Singer. Espinosa was a well-known actor, singer, and composer. He started his acting career in 1938 and worked in over 80 films alongside such greats of Mexican cinema as Carmen Montejo, Sara Garcia, Maria Felix, and Jorge Negrete.  Espinosa’s films include such works as “Two Mules for Sister Sara” (1970), “La duda” (1972) and “Guantanamera” (1995).   He also participated in dubbing films, working along side such greats as Richard Burton, Anthony Quinn, Boris Karloff, John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Dean Martin, Robert Mitchum, Brigitte Bardot and Jeanne Moreau.  Espinosa studied music at the National Conservatory and later wrote and sang many songs.   He received the Peace Medal from the United Nations in 1976 and also was awarded a honorary doctorate degree from the Autonomous University of Sinaloa.   Espinosa’s daughter is the well known actress Angelica Aragon.
