Actor, Director. Born in New York City, he is best known for his role of Sgt. James ‘Kinch’ Kinchloe in the comedy series “Hogan’s Heroes”. Dixon began his career during the late 1950s,  originating the role of Joseph Asagai in the 1959 Broadway production of “A Raisin in the Sun” and reprising it in in the 1961 film version. He also had memorable film credits with “Porgy and Bess” (1959), “Nothing But a Man” (1964) and “A Patch of Blue” (1965). His other television appearances include, “The Twilight Zone”, “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.”, “The Defenders” and “I Spy”. During the 1970s, Dixon turned to directing and had credits with such series as, “The Waltons”, “The Rockford Files”, “The Greatest American Hero”, “The A-Team” and “Magnum, P.I.” (bio by: C.S.)
